Dental Crowns, Bridges & Implants

Bridges

Bridges are a custom-made dental appliance that is used to restore an entire section of missing teeth. Bridges improve the bite relationship between upper and lower teeth while restoring the natural appearance of teeth. Bridges are semi-permanent and can be adhered to existing teeth or implants.

Crowns

Crowns are thin caps that are placed over the tooth and are usually made of materials that resemble the tooth’s appearance such as porcelain. Crowns are considered to be a restorative treatment because their goal is to restore the function and appearance of the tooth. Crowns have many uses including attaching bridges, covering implants, and repairing a cracked tooth.

Implants

Implants are used to replace a missing tooth or multiple teeth and act as synthetic roots or anchors to secure the replacement tooth to the jawbone. Implants provide excellent results in terms of looks and function. However, not all patients are eligible for this treatment. Ideal candidates have healthy bone density, a strong immune system, and a strong commitment to a strict oral hygiene.

Fillings

When a patient develops a cavity, it needs to be treated before an infection occurs. Our doctors can restore the function and health of the tooth by removing the decay and then filling the hole with a biocompatible material. Popular filling materials include amalgam, composite-resin, glass-ionomer cement, and even gold.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Invisalign

The Invisalign system allows you to straighten your teeth without ever needing to wear braces. Invisalign consists of a set of custom-created trays that are designed to apply constant yet gentle pressure to your teeth. Each tray is worn for approximately 1-2 weeks before moving on to the next one in the series. The trays are removable and virtually invisible. Once you wear all of the trays in the series, your smile transformation is complete!

Bonding

Bonding is a restorative procedure that involves taking an enamel-like material, sculpting it to the correct shape, and attaching it to the tooth’s surface to allow it to harden. This procedure is effective to fill in gaps or to restore the color of teeth to a more favorable shade. Bonding provides a great natural look, however, it is not a permanent solution as bonding is vulnerable to staining and chipping.

Veneers

Veneers consist of covering the front of the teeth with thin sheets of porcelain or plastic to improve the color and shape of the teeth. Veneers provide a long-term solution to tooth restoration by providing longer color stability and life expectancy compared to bonding. Veneers are typically handled over three appointments: diagnosis and treatment plan design, prep, and bonding.

A denture is a complete replacement for missing teeth and their adjacent tissues. Dentures are removable and typically made of acrylic resin and on occasion combined with certain metals. Types of dentures include complete dentures which are designed to replace all of the teeth and partial dentures which strategically cover only the spaces where teeth are missing. Depending on your situation, we will recommend the dentures that will meet your needs best.

Dental Cleanings & Preventive Care

Dental Cleanings

Dental cleanings are an essential part of caring for your mouth and teeth. Cleaning is typically performed by a dental hygienist who begins with an exam of your entire mouth to check for signs of gingivitis and other potential problems. Once the exam is completed, the hygienist will remove plaque and tartar, perform a gritty toothpaste cleaning, floss your teeth deeply. You should schedule dental cleanings at least twice a year.

Scaling and Root Planing

Scaling and Root Planing is a specialized type of cleaning that is used to treat patients who suffer from acute periodontal disease and have not benefited from conventional treatment. The goal of scaling and root planing is to encourage the gums to reattach themselves to the tooth structure, therefore, closing the periodontal pockets. If scaling and root planing do not resolve the periodontal pockets, other treatment options can be explored.

Sealants

Sealants are a preventative care treatment that provides a liquid coating that hardens on the surfaces of the teeth to act as a barrier for bacteria. Sealants prevent cavities even on teeth that are already decaying. This treatment works by filling in any irregular surfaces on the teeth and preventing them from becoming the perfect areas for decay. By evening the surface, regular brushing will be less likely to miss any areas of the chewing surfaces of the teeth.

Fluoride Varnish

Fluoride varnish is a preventative treatment that can be applied to the teeth to prevent cavities. This treatment works by providing fluoride to the teeth for a certain amount of time. Once the varnish wears off, it must be reapplied to continue protecting against cavities. This treatment has shown to be very effective in protecting patients against cavities and is highly recommended for our younger patients who may not be as experienced in proper dental hygiene.
